A large Corinthian black figure aryballos. The vessel has a wide flat lip, loop handle below which a pair of well-painted and incised confronted roosters flanking a palmette-lotus altar, amid stars in field. Concentric circles decorate the base and ray band on lip. Excellent style.
Corinthian: Circa 580-550 BC.
Very Fine condition generally. A surface dig to the underside, otherwise complete and intact; a few earthy accretions remaining.
Height: 10.3 cms (4 ins).
Provenance: Ex American private Collection, Virginia
