A beautifully worked neolithic honey-coloured flint javelin head. The weapon is thin in profile, with fine retouch to both sides, the lower edges formed into shallow barbs. Found in the border region between Saxony and Poland. A lovely example of late neolithic craftsmanship.
Circa 2500-2000 BC.

Length of the longest side 7.9 cms (3.1 ins).
Provenance: From the North German private collection S. N., acquired from Werner Hernus - Terra Paleontologica, Erlangen (previously in the H. W. collection, Offenbach, there since before 2016).
This javelin head was probably never made for practical use but was probably used as a prestige object or grave gift.
